Once qualified hours will be 5 days over 6 amd hours will be a shift pattern rostered monthly. You must be willing to be flexible according to the needs of the buisness.</p>

<p>Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit a Livestock Technician to provide day-to-day care for farm livestock and Clydesdale horses kept on the College estate, including weekend care on a rota basis.  Supporting and resourcing the teaching of animal care including maintaining practical facilities and boundaries.  </p>
<p>About the College</p>
<p>Capel Manor College based in Greater London, is a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Horticulture, Landscaping and Garden Design, Floristry, Business Enterprise, Animal Care and Saddlery.</p>
<p>Description of duties</p>
<p>Reporting to the Head of School, Animal Care and Saddlery, main duties and responsibilities:</p>
<p>•	The day-to-day routine care of the College’s animal stock to include cleaning out of accommodation, provision of feed, water, bedding and welfare checks.<br />
•	Supervising and allocating tasks for college students carrying out practical duties in animal areas<br />
•	Assisting academic staff with the supervision of students and providing technical assistance and advice as required. Providing demonstrations and technical instruction to students undertaking practical animal care and associated tuition.<br />
•	Completing records relating to routine animal care, reporting any abnormalities or problems to Supervisor/Line Manager as appropriate.<br />
•	Ordering feed, bedding and other consumables as required in consultation with Line Manager.  Storage, security and stock control of such consumables.<br />
•	Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all animal areas and associated storage and service areas.<br />
•	Ensuring the correct disposal of all waste from the animal areas.<br />
•	The exercising, training and handling of animal stock as appropriate and as required.<br />
•	The driving and use of college vehicles, including tractors, in relation to animal transport, movement and estate maintenance duties<br />
•	Ensuring that all requirements and regulations relating to health and safety are adhered to at all times.<br />
•	Undertaking the assessment and documentation of students’ practical abilities in accordance with specified criteria.<br />
•	Liaising with external bodies e.g. vet, RSPCA, Defra etc. as appropriate and visitors to the College estate.</p>
<p>Experience / Qualifications</p>
<p>Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:</p>
<p>•	Experience of caring for a range of farm-stock and equines in a commercial or educational context<br />
•	Good interpersonal/ communication skills<br />
•	Knowledge of correct hygiene and cleaning procedures for domestic livestock<br />
•	Awareness of Health and Safety issues with regard to own duties and in an agricultural context</p>
<p>•	Clean Driving Licence<br />
•	To follow rotas and working routines carefully and conscientiously<br />
•	To keep accurate records (manual or computerised)<br />
•	To work effectively unsupervised as well as part of a team<br />
•	Strong commitment to the care and welfare of the College’s animals.</p>
<p>It is desirable for candidates to posses:</p>
<p>•	Level 3 qualification or higher in an agricultural discipline<br />
•	Experience of working with public, demonstrating good principles of “Customer Care”.<br />
•	Experience of working with learners in an educational environment<br />
•	Knowledge of pasture management and prophylactic care in an organic agricultural environment<br />
•	Understanding of assessment and documentation of learner performance</p>
<p>Start Date: ASAP	</p>
<p>Live on site in Forty Hall Lodge, Forty Hill, Enfield, Middlesex, the property rent commences at £3,527.83 per annum [Subject to Annual Review] and is deducted monthly at source through the payroll</p>
<p>The postholder will also have “on-call” duties. Work unsocial hours if the post-holder is “called out” to respond to a burglary or fire alarm, or to secure buildings to ensure the welfare of the college’s animal stock is not compromised. A living onsite allowance which is currently £1,640.40 per annum will be paid.  </p>
<p>Hours: Full Time 36 hours pw. </p>

The intern will perform surgery, take some emergencies, and will concentrate on the integration of conventional medicine and surgery with alternative and complementary modalities, in an AAHA hospital.<br />
The intern will follow a structured approach to understanding and applying innovative approaches to veterinary health care.   Hospital cases will allow the intern to apply integrative medicine in a case study environment.  The internship duration is 12 months.  </p>

<p>The Canine Massage Therapy Centre specialises in remedial clinical massage for dogs experiencing mobility issues and also runs workshops for owners all across the UK teaching owners how to massage their dogs for good health. Run by Natalie Lenton, the Canine Massage Therapy Centre has enjoyed much media exposure as well as a monthly column for the national Our Dogs newspaper.</p>
<p>You will be organised, have book keeping skills or experience, have good customer contact skills and be prepared to work the odd saturday or sunday a couple of times a year at shows like Crufts, agility shows and K9 Massage Workshops. You will also be managing some basic marketing functions and be interested in helping a business grow whilist having fun at the same time.</p>
<p>You will be interested in learning new skills and have a desire to learn more about managing a web shop and most importnantly you will have a genuine love of dogs as you will be coming into regular contact with them) and an interest in natural canine healthcare.</p>
<p>This is a new role ideal for someone pro active and organised and looking to work around 16 hours a week. This role may also have the potential to be a work from home role.</p>

General volunteer activities will include but not be limited to the following: monitoring visitors to the sanctuary to ensure the animals well being; monitoring individual animal behaviour; food preparation for the lions; cleaning the grounds and facilities; cleaning lion camps; clearing alien vegetation; clearing fence lines and general fence maintenance; fence construction; wetland rehabilitation; firebreak maintenance (and fire fighting in the summer).</p>
<p>Volunteers pay £80 per week for private accommodation and are responsible for preparing their own meals (kitchen provided).</p>
